Multi-skilled and a hugely talented woman in forestry, Mereana Tobenhouse from Fast Harvesting is the Female in Forestry 2022 at the Central North Island Forestry Awards.
Experienced, with 21 years in logging, Mereana is highly capable and a multiskilled character. She is passionate, honest, loyal, innovative, a mentor, empathetic and shows great leadership.
Mereana began as an apprentice in 2001 doing skid crosscutting and quality control work then operated skidders, haulers, and mechanised processing machines in her time in the bush.
She has always taken on duties in the crews she has worked in, which in turn led to her taking on a Health & Safety co-ordinator role across the business supporting all the crews.
Mereana is very capable with all computer work and is leading a project within the company to digitalise their paper-based systems. She is prepared to roll up her sleeves and get on with the job, in all weather conditions whenever needed.... a real team player.
She fills in as a processor operator and crew foreman when needed, always balancing the needs of her family with work, being a married woman with four children. She is a multi-skilled and hugely talented woman in forestry.
