With a long history of investing in personnel, Mike Fraser has seen results in high-quality personnel providing benefits both to his company and to the forest owner and industry.
A keen rugby player in his day and now a coach, Mike quickly saw the benefits of players being able to review and analyse what they were doing.
Mike believes contributing to the wider Forest industry is important and his team support his drive in this area. He has been working with external forestry businesses to share his knowledge and experience.
Mike will tell you “we can teach people how to use a chainsaw, how to operate a machine, and other skills needed in this industry, but we need to give them tools to grow and see them be who they really are – we need to peel back the onion so to speak”.
There are a number of people in his business that he has built a close relationship with away from the worksite and been able to help them and give them tools to overcome or deal with learning disabilities.
There is no greater accomplishment than seeing someone you work next to, truly open up and be themselves and feel confident doing so.
Mike’s focus is on people and putting their needs first. Testament to that is Fraser Logging – a fifth-generation forestry family, and this year celebrates 50 years in business with Fraser 03 crew being the original crew and still operating today, alongside three other crews.
