As you are aware FISC, FICA and FOA had the opportunity to co-host the Hon Brooke van Velden Minister of Workplace Relations and Safety in Rotorua as part of the recent Health and Safety Reform Roadshow, on behalf of the forestry sector. The industry expressed a desire to see the Approved Code of Practice (ACoP) review completed given it has been progressing slowly for an extended period of time.
It looks like the Minister took that feedback on board and has directed WorkSafe to move quickly to complete the review by March 2025.
As a result, there has been a flurry of activity from WorkSafe releasing revised sections of the ACOP and scheduling workshops at short notice. FICA has expressed concern about the short notice, compressed timeline and lack of effective engagement with members.
