FICA attended the AB Equipment field day in Nelson in October. The report below is from Mark Hill Forestry Product Manager, AB Equipment.
Proceedings kicked off Wednesday night with a Dinner at Smugglers Bar & Restaurant, kindly sponsored by Tigercat & AB Equipment (Pete Dudson) where 44 people attended.
Thursday morning, we visited an Endurance Logging Yarder Crew site where we saw a Tigercat LS855C Feller Buncher being tethered on a Timbermax T20HD Winch, Sumitomo SH350 Processor & Sumitomo SH240 Shover logger & thanks to Hayden Barnes & the Endurance Logging 650 for teeing this up.
We then had a cut lunch at Kaiteriteri on the beach sponsored by FICA before heading to a Burson Logging to see an Tigercat L822E with a 5185 Fixed felling head in operation alongside a Tigercat 625H Log Skidder and Tigercat H855E processor. This site allowed viewing of all three Tigercat machines working at the same time.
Again, a lot of time & effort went in by Ian Burson & the whole Burson Logging Crew to set this site up so thanks for that!
Special thanks to Glen Jarie & the Nelson Team for arranging a great day out, Glen Marley from Tigercat for his talks about the Tigercat Company & products, Chris King on Timbermax, Hayden McCulloch & Nick Rutland for the photos, Timbermax for covering the cost of the bus, TDF & Hydro link for the BBQ & refreshments at the after match back at AB Equipment Nelson.
I hope I haven’t forgotten anyone as there was a lot of helpers that made this a very successful couple of days & I know everyone that attended left feeling better for being there.
