A third-generation forester, with 40 years in the forestry industry, Tony Groome is winner of the Distribution Excellence Award at the 2022 Hawkes Bay Forestry Awards.
Central to success is the ability to match forests to customers according to log characteristics, and to select domestic or export market sales strategies to achieve optimal return to the forest owner.
Tony Groome is a well-known and well-respected personality in the Hawke’s Bay Forest industry doing this daily. He’s juggling wood supply from around 30 different forest locations, utilising 16 different cartage companies, supplying five major exporters at three export ports via three rail heads, and to more than 10 domestic wood processors, many of whom are outside of the Hawkes Bay wood supply region.
A third-generation forester, with 40 years in the forestry industry, Tony has been involved in establishment, forest acquisition, harvest planning, and now primarily logistics and distribution. He is an Active Training Coordinator for Fire NZ and LandSAR, Air Attack Supervisor for Fire Incidents and a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
Congratulations Tony Groome, winner of Distribution Excellence 2022 at the Hawkes Bay Forestry Awards.
