Your FICA board has elected a new President, effective immediately:  Ross Davis, Managing Director of R F Davis Logging from Whangamata.  Ross will be ably assisted by the appointment of Paul Olsen, from Olsen Forest Management in Tokoroa, who was elected to the new role of Vice-President of FICA.  Another board member, Kevin Ihaka of FPS Forestry in Whangarei, is currently serving as FICA’s sole representative on the establishment board of Forest Industry Safety Council.  Once the new safety council is up and running, FICA’s two representatives will be Kevin and Paul.

Ross takes over as President from Jacob Kajavala who served in the role for FICA for 12 years since our inception.  Jacob, of Kajavala Forestry in Kawerau, stepped down to focus his energy on local Bay of Plenty business issues through Industry Symbiosis Kawerau and the wider economic development agency, Bay of Connections. Jacob will continue to serve as a FICA board member until the next election.
